The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is the world’s leading standards organization for the global jewelry and watch industry.Founded in 2005 by industry pioneers such as Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and De Beers, the RJC now unites over 2,000 members across the entire value chain — from mining to finished products (RJC 2025).

Its mission is clear: to build a jewelry industry rooted in transparency, responsibility, and sustainability.Members commit to meeting some of the most rigorous ethical, social, and environmental standards in the industry — going far beyond legal requirements.

These standards include:

• Code of Practices (COP): Ethical and social principles for the entire value chain.
• Chain of Custody (COC): Full traceability from raw material to finished jewelry.

Through these frameworks, the RJC continues to move the jewelry industry forward — for the benefit of people, communities, and the planet.

While our gemstone suppliers are not RJC-certified, we work closely with small, family-run operations in Sri Lanka that follow regulated small-scale mining practices. After mining, the earth is restored — often transformed into fertile farmland — a beautiful example of circular value creation (Dissanayake, Chandrajith, and Tobschall 2000).
