When gemstones form deep within the Earth, they are exposed to intense heat and pressure. As they rise closer to the surface, they gradually cool — and heat treatment simply mirrors that natural transformation.

An untreated sapphire (often labeled unheated) retains its original color — completely untouched by human hands. Such stones are rare and valuable precisely because they remain unchanged.
