Some jewelry marks a single moment. Others become part of the life you build. For Birgit, every piece tells the story of a new chapter. From discovering Nangi just after finishing her master’s degree to her wedding on Nord-Hidle and the meaningful collection she continues to build today, her jewelry reflects a life lived with intention.

The day after submitting her master’s thesis, Birgit wasn’t expecting to discover the jewelry brand that would accompany so many of life’s milestones. A wedding magazine, a visit to the Nangi Studio and one unforgettable sapphire ring changed everything.
“It was the day after I submitted my master’s thesis. I was at the grocery store, unsure of how to fill my time, so I bought a wedding magazine. There, I came across an advertisement for Nangi and was immediately intrigued.
The next time I was in Oslo, I visited the Nangi Studio and quickly fell in love with a ring featuring a triangular sapphire in the most beautiful shade of blue. It stacked perfectly with the wedding band I already knew I wanted from Nangi. A few days later, I met the Nangi team again at a wedding fair, bought my first Nangi ring, the Adams Peak Trillion Ring, and I’ve never looked back.”

There was another reason the brand felt so familiar.
“As a child, I lived in Madagascar for two years, an island with much in common with Sri Lanka. There, we could choose from the most beautiful gemstones and have them crafted into jewelry that reflected our Scandinavian style. Access to gemstones and custom-designed jewelry isn’t the same in Norway, so what Nangi has created by making this available here is truly amazing.”
Today, Birgit’s collection reflects that same appreciation for colorful natural gemstones, timeless craftsmanship and contemporary Scandinavian design.

As their wedding day approached, Birgit and Hadle knew they wanted wedding bands they could wear for a lifetime. Their choice was simple: timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship and rings that would continue to feel just as meaningful for decades to come.
“When it came to our wedding bands, we were much more focused on quality. We both wanted timeless, modern designs in yellow gold. I quickly chose the Modern Love Band from Nangi, while Hadle chose a similar design, just three times wider.”

On June 8, 2024, they were married on Nord-Hidle, his family’s island in Norway’s Ryfylke region.

“It became a memorable west coast wedding with every season in a single day. We took our photos before the ceremony, and the sky kept getting darker until it suddenly opened with hail. Desiree Photography captured the dramatic atmosphere beautifully, and it made it even more special when we walked out of the church as newlyweds into bright sunshine.

What I appreciated most was bringing together our friends and family to celebrate. Family is priceless, and the day wouldn’t have been the same without everyone’s support.
I especially have to mention my sister, who helped with so much of the planning, baked our wedding cake and embroidered every guest’s name onto their napkins. Nangi means little sister, and I’m incredibly lucky to be one.”

For Birgit, every new piece has reflected a new chapter rather than a passing trend.
“I come back because Nangi is a brand that’s constantly evolving. It’s exciting to follow the journey, discover new collections and see the company grow. The personal connection with the Nangi team makes me want to support the brand, and it also means a lot that they’re environmentally and socially conscious.
I’ve also learned so much from Nangi, not only about jewelry and the industry, but also about Sri Lanka and my own personal style. At first, I was mainly interested in colorful sapphire rings, but through the beautiful Serendip Collection, I also discovered a love for diamond jewelry.”

Her style has remained remarkably consistent over the years.
“I appreciate color and simple designs. I especially love my Coastal Baby Peacock Sapphire Ring and Swan Diamond ring from Nangi. They’re not the most extravagant pieces, but to me, nothing is more elegant than a slim gold ring with a small sapphire. And if the design is modern and a little unconventional, like my trillion ring, then it feels completely right.”

For Birgit, choosing fine jewelry has always been about longevity.
“Gold jewelry is a significant investment, so it matters that it lasts. The pieces stay beautiful and retain their value, which also makes them sustainable. There are so many benefits to choosing jewelry that’s made to last, and I love the thought that the next generation might one day appreciate my Nangi jewelry too.”
Among all the pieces she owns, one still reminds her of a defining moment in life.
“My Adams Peak Trillion Sapphire Ring. It marked a transition in my life, when I had just started my first full-time job and was attending a wedding fair with my university friends.
I was engaged, had bought my first apartment and started working, and it hadn’t really occurred to me before then how much freedom came with feeling more established and having my own income. I felt incredibly lucky to be able to buy a beautiful gold ring.”

When asked if jewelry can carry memories, her answer comes without hesitation.
“Absolutely. I have several pieces of jewelry that mean a great deal to me from different chapters of my life. First, there’s a bracelet from Madagascar, then my NTNU ring from my years in Trondheim, and several of my Nangi pieces remind me of both small and significant milestones. My wedding band will always remind me of our wedding day and the man I love.”

Some memories are kept in photographs. Others are carried every day.
For Birgit, they are collected slowly, thoughtfully, and worn in gold, sapphires and diamonds.
