Did you know that Nangi means little sister in Sri Lankan? We chose the name Nangi because our mission is to support our sisters all over the world. Not just by offering fine jewelry that makes girls and women feel confident and good. We also help our little sisters – our "nangis" – in Sri Lanka.
We support an orphanage just outside Colombo, which is home to 77 girls aged 5-18 years. Most of the girls come from families of violence and drug-related problems. At the children's home, they have a safe place to live, they're given the food and nutrition they need, and they go to school. The orphanage is dependent on external support.
Nangi wants our contribution to be as effective for the girls as possible. That's why we donate 5% of our proceeds to the operations of the orphanage. This helps pay for essentials such as electricity, water, and salaries for the caregivers.
Meet the Heart Behind Nangi's Mission: Danuka's Grandmother and Her Lifelong Dedication to Helping Orphans. At 85 years old, Danuka's grandmother is a living testament to the power of compassion and dedication. For the past 25 years, she has devoted her life to volunteering at a special orphanage for girls just outside Colombo, Sri Lanka. This orphanage is more than just a shelter; it's a place of hope and opportunity for around 80 girls, who come from difficult and heartbreaking backgrounds.
Many of these children have faced unimaginable challenges. Some have been abandoned, some have lost their parents and found temporary care with elderly grandparents who later passed away, and some have escaped abusive homes.
For these girls, the orphanage is a sanctuary where they can rebuild their lives, receive a proper education, and discover new passions.
“Children are so much hope,” Danuka's grandmother says with a smile. She believes deeply in giving these girls the chance to stand on their own feet, and the orphanage works tirelessly to provide them with not just an education but also dancing and music lessons to nurture their spirits.

However, these children need ongoing help from the orphanage to have a better future. "They need our support," Danuka's grandmother emphasizes, referring to the critical role the orphanage plays in their lives. The orphanage gives these girls the care and guidance they need to overcome their difficult circumstances and start building a brighter future.

Did you know that “Nangi” means "little sister" in Sri Lanka? The name is more than just a brand for us at Nangi Fine Jewelry—it reflects our mission to support our sisters all over the world. Our jewelry is about more than just making women feel beautiful and confident; it’s about lifting up the women and girls who need it the most. And this mission begins in Sri Lanka, where we support the orphanage that is so close to Danuka’s family.

The orphanage, which is home to girls aged 5 to 18, provides a safe and nurturing environment for young girls who have experienced violence, neglect, or family breakdowns. These girls are given a home, proper food, education, and love—things every child deserves. However, this orphanage depends heavily on donations and external support to meet basic needs like electricity, water, and staff salaries.
At Nangi, we are committed to ensuring our contributions make a real difference in the lives of these girls. That’s why 5% of our proceeds go directly to the orphanage. This financial support helps cover the costs of daily essentials and allows the orphanage to continue offering a safe and supportive environment for these vulnerable children.

Danuka’s grandmother has spent 25 years working tirelessly to ensure these girls have a chance at a brighter future. Her dedication is inspiring, and her work reminds us that no act of kindness is too small.
At Nangi, we are honored to continue this legacy and invite you to join us in supporting our little sisters in Sri Lanka. Together, we can offer these girls a brighter tomorrow—one that is filled with hope, opportunity, and love.
Please note that, for privacy reasons, we are not permitted to share photos of the girls.
