How Are Lab-Grown Diamonds Made?

Lab-grown diamonds are the future. Mind you, they are not synthetic, they’re 100% real diamonds!

When growing a diamond in a laboratory, we recreate the same conditions that form diamonds underground.

Here’s a rundown of how the technology works

To turn tiny atoms into shiny diamonds, there’s a four-step process:

• Diamonds are made out of carbon. To create a diamond, we start out with one single carbon seed.
• The carbon seed is placed in very hot conditions to recreate the earth’s own process. With the right temperature and pressure over time, it will take about 2-4 weeks to grow one rough diamond in the lab.
• Lab gemologists (experts on gemstones) examine and quality-check the diamond to make sure it holds the highest standard.
• The diamond is then cut and polished to get the right shape and perfect sparkle.
