The panther

  • The Panther (also commonly known as the Black Panther) is a large member of the Big Cat family, native to Asia, Africa and the Americas. The Panther is an elusive, powerful and fearless animal that has adapted well to a variety of habitats around the world, and is known to be one of the strongest climbers of all cat species.
  • The Panther is incredibly intelligent and agile, and is very seldom seen by people in the wild as they are generally very quiet and cautious animals. Their dark brown fur camouflages the Panther both into the surrounding forest and makes them almost invisible in the darkness of night.
  • The Panther is a solitary animal that leads a nocturnal lifestyle, spending much of the daylight hours resting safely high in the trees.

Tourmaline

The tourmaline is highly sought after because it combines good hardness (7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale) with excellent durability. It has one of the widest color ranges of any gem. Tourmaline’s colors have many different causes. It’s generally agreed that traces of iron, and possibly titanium, induce green and blue colors. Manganese produces reds and pinks, and possibly yellows. Some pink and yellow tourmalines might owe their hues to color centers caused by radiation, which can be natural or laboratory-induced.

The name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese term “Turmali,” which was the name given to all colored crystals on the island of Sri Lanka back in the days. This all inclusive name indicates the inability of ancient gem dealers to differentiate tourmaline from other stones. In fact, at one time in history, pink and red tourmaline were thought to be rubies. Pink tourmaline tends to be pinker in color than ruby. However, their similarities in appearance are so strong that the stones in the Russian crown jewels believed to be rubies for centuries, are now thought to be tourmalines. Tourmaline was in fact also confused with emerald for 300 years! The stone was first discovered by Dutch traders off the West Coast of Italy in the late 1600's or early 1700's.

Tourmaline is the birthstone of October, and is believed to reflect kindness, tolerance and femininity. Tourmalines are also believed to be useful in relaxing the body and the mind, and to help in the treatment of many different diseases such as anxiety, blood poisoning, arthritis, and heart disease.

Solitude

Solitude is the state of being alone without being lonely. It is a positive and constructive state of engagement with oneself. Solitude is desirable and a state of being alone where you provide yourself wonderful and sufficient company.

Solitude is a time that can be used for reflection, inner searching or growth or enjoyment of some kind. Deep reading requires solitude, so does experiencing the beauty of nature. Thinking and creativity usually do too.

Finding your ring size

All of our rings are standard EU sizes. If you don’t know your EU size, you can visit a local jeweller and have them measure your finger or one of your rings to determine the correct ring size. If you are unable to do this, please feel free to use our options below.

MEASURE AT HOME

  • Take a piece of paper and wrap it around the finger
  • Mark the exact spot where the ends join
  • With a ruler, measure the length from end to end
  • Use the chart below to find the correct size (e.g. EU size 42 = 42 mm circumference)

ARE YOU GIFTING A RING TO SOMEONE?

Measure the diameter of a ring you know fits the person you are giving the ring to. Alternatively: choose the most common ring size (EU 54/17.2 mm/US size 7) and have your local jeweler adjust the ring if needed afterwards.
